Amadeus Capital Partners, the technology investor, today announced that Alastair Breward had joined the firm as Chief Operating Officer. Alastair will assume responsibility for finance, human resources, information technology and information services.
After graduating from Oxford (PPE), Alastair began his career working in IT with Arthur Andersen’s Consulting Division before moving to Sydney, Australia, to join specialist technology company, Talman Pty Ltd. He then took a Diploma in Law at Sydney University, returning to the UK in 1992 to join Bird & Bird, the specialist IT and IP law firm. He then gained three years’ commercial experience as General Counsel for Virtuality Group plc before joining Taylor Wessing, where he became a partner in 2002, advising mainly venture capital funds and fast-growing technology companies on both sides of the Atlantic.
Commenting on the appointment, Amadeus’ CEO Anne Glover says: “We have known Alastair for many years and am delighted that he is joining the Amadeus team. His breadth of experience will prove valuable to us at a time of new opportunities for both Amadeus and European venture investing.”
Alastair Breward added: “This is an exciting time to be involved in European technology venturing. I’ve worked with Amadeus as external advisor for many years and seen it build an enviable brand and a first class team. The firm’s continued success as it grows depends greatly on effective internal systems and operational management, two areas in which I look forward to deploying my experience.”
